Sumatra Blue Lingtong

Sumatra Blue Lingtong

Sumatra Blue Lingtong coffee is full bodied, bold, rounded and full of flavour with notes of earthy spices, ripe fruit and liquorice. It has a great rich texture and a persistent finish. Its earthy flavours and spicy, smokey notes in the finish make it a classic Indonesian coffee.

It is grown by the PPKGO coffee cooperative at 1,100-1,500m above sea level. The PPKGO is a collection of thousands of individual small-holder farmers spread across the Northern tip of Sumatra in the Taekngon region of the Aceh province. The coffee is harvested between October and June and is pulped, fermented, semi-washed, sun dried and hand sorted. Our coffee roasters have recently donated money to the cooperative to help pay for coffee washing stations.

Unusually large beans
Indonesian coffee beans are unusually large and are known as ‘Bolds’. This results in a more even roast, allowing the flavours within the bean to mature and develop well over the roasting period. Due to the constant warm, wet environment there is no real distinct harvesting season in Sumatra. Rather it spans the best part of the year as the beans ripen slowly and all at different times.
